At Whitecroft Lighting we value our staff and recognise the daily pressures which can cause strain on an individual’s mental health – this is why the wellbeing of our staff is of utmost importance and mental health awareness is ingrained in our company culture. With several Mental Health First Aiders on site ready to support and listen; it’s no surprise that we are supporting Mental Health Awareness Week where, this year, the theme is anxiety.
To show commitment to our team and demonstrate the importance we take on mental health, we have partnered with TOG Mind – a local mental health charity focusing support on the Tameside, Oldham, and Glossop areas. On the 15th May between 10:00 and 13:00, TOG Mind will be delivering 30-minute awareness sessions to our management team and Mental Health First Aiders, with an open invitation for all other colleagues to attend. In these sessions, TOG Mind will discuss mechanisms to support and improve mental health and offer a forum for open discussion.
In addition to our collaboration with TOG Mind, we are promoting movement and exercise as methods to boost brain health. To do this, we have arranged walking lunches within the Mental Health Awareness Week, and we are looking to continue this trend by re-starting the Whitecroft Sunday Walking Club – where team members are able to meet and socialise while enjoying a local walking route.
During Mental Health Awareness Week we partnered with local organisation, Tameside Active Cycle. Tameside Active Cycle are local to Whitecroft HQ and on Tuesday 16th and Thursday 18th, they will be opening their gates free of charge to Whitecroft employees – supporting the team with free use of bikes. We have arranged transport for the team to encourage participation in this great exercise opportunity.
