Last month, we hosted our first 'Inspiration Day' for secondary school students from across Tameside who are keen to learn about local business opportunities.
During the event, we provided aspiring apprentices with an overview of Whitecroft’s operations, emphasizing the substantial contribution that our apprentices have made through their projects. To offer a hands-on experience, we conducted a tour of our factory, showcasing the innovation and practice that goes into creating a premium lighting solution.
The tour generated a flow of positive feedback, owing to the professionalism we maintained throughout the entire event. The way we described our varied machine functions was ‘clear’ and ‘easy to digest,’ as one of our attendees explained to us.
After the tour, we held a Q&A session, providing an opportunity for our apprentices to share their experiences and challenges. This segment not only offered insight into our operations but also allowed parents and students to ask questions and receive advice directly from our apprentices. They shared valuable tips and shed light on how they overcome challenges in their roles.
Feedback from the event was overwhelmingly positive. Parents and students alike appreciated the information and the opportunities presented. One parent commented: "It’s great to have a local company willing to invest time in today's youth and show them what’s out there."
While our event was primarily designed for secondary school leavers, it was also an opportunity for us to celebrate and highlight the fantastic work our apprentices have done for Whitecroft. We place immense value on our apprentices and graduates, investing significantly in their futures. We firmly believe they are the driving force of Whitecroft's future success.
Following the success of the First Inspiration Day, the opportunities presented, and the ambition our attendees demonstrated, we are excited to see an influx of future apprentices here at Whitecroft.

'I am currently 3 months into my apprenticeship here at Whitecroft. In this time, I have learnt so much in terms of Marketing and lighting specific. I have well and truly settled into my work environment with my colleagues.
During my time at Whitecroft, I have been stuck in with my tasks, faced many challenges already but I am fuelled by tackling these challenges and learning from them, which would undoubtebly progress me further in my journey.'
I look forward to the coming months and the new projects going into the new year.
