CASE STUDY

Yodel’s plans to improve light quality and energy efficiency continues with an LED upgrade to their Livingston site

Yodel’s journey from T5 fluorescent to LED lighting began in early 2014 when FES Lighting LTD first instigated contact with the delivery giant. The first complete installation roll out took place in March 2014 when T5 fluorescent luminaires were replaced with Whitecroft’s Aerial Twin LED.

Five years later Yodel’s energy programme roll out continues with the refurbishment of their Livingston depot with a focus on improving the light quality of the space while also driving down energy usage and costs. To provide the best solution and for continuity with previous installations Whitecroft Lighting supplied the Aerial Industry complete with AirControl.

The Solution

In order to deliver low energy consumption and improve the quality of the lit environment, we supplied the Aerial Industry. In comparison to the existing T5 fluorescent with 320W per light fitting delivering an estimated 20,000 lumens, the newly installed Aerial Industry delivers 23,184 lumens with an installed wattage of just 179W, an impressive saving of 44% installed load.

To maximise the energy savings further each luminaire was fitted with an integral occupancy and daylight detector with out-of-the-box functionality and were linked to a low energy mesh network. This state-of-the-art technology was so well received by Yodel it is now specified on all future projects.
