Accommodating almost 1,500 pupils from nursery to 6th form, Astraea Academy campus in Sheffield comprises a fabulous, refurbished Grade II listed building and a state-of-the-art new development.
Working to a restricted timescale to complete the build, a lighting solution that enabled rapid installation and flexibility was a priority. Whitecroft Lighting therefore supplied Selene with integrated Organic Response® wireless control to simplify installation and reduce the opportunity for project schedule disruption.
As a result, the proposed solution has reduced the overall installation time by an impressive fifteen percent and enabled commissioning of the control system in a three times faster timeframe.
Used throughout the classrooms, a continuously mounted Selene features through wiring and single point ceiling suspension. Whilst the integration of Organic Response® sensor into the luminaire streamlines installation, without the need for additional equipment and costly, expert commissioning services.
Organic Response® works instantaneously and configuration is done simply via an app on a smartphone or tablet. This functionality allowed NG Bailey contractors to quickly and effortlessly commission the system in upwards of 80 classrooms without third party intervention. As the Organic Response® system can be easily reconfigured, it provides the ultimate in flexibility and is able to constantly deliver a well-lit and modern teaching space.
